Artist Statement
It was my father who first helped me discovers my interest in art and it was through his perspective he helped me to reach my full potential with him as my teacher. After taking fine arts as an after school program I won two grants. With the second grant, a scholarship, which I was honored with by my state, I felt encouraged to pursue my dream of becoming an artist in France. My scholarship was an amazing experience it gave me an entirely new opportunity in life. It gave me the chance of traveling to a different country, to learn a different language, and to embrace a new culture. Even when I went to study at Montreal for a time, it was another first for me because it was, yet again, a drastic change of scenery, of wintertime and snow. The change of scenery further inspired me to create new scenes of the winter but I’ve been criticized that I even managed to unknowingly make the snow appear to be like sand native to Venezuela.
Through my art I hope that my audience will experience my work and to be able to think of what I illustratively portrayed. It was through my influence from the artist, Diego Rivera, who was my art teacher’s teacher; I found my love for figurative and moralistic paintings.
As for symbolism, it is almost like a signature for me. In every country there is a collection of native symbols that I’ve learned about and have made sure that each can make an appearance in my work. A symbol and character that has repeatably appeared in my art would be roosters. I especially have found a large fascination with roosters particularly because of their variation of exotically colored feathers. Roosters are said to wake people up in the morning--they wake me up in art. The rooster’s feathers give me the excuse to use color and through large scales in my paintings I find it to be the best way to fully express myself. And it is through the mixed medium I can fully be able to play with the texture of the colors. Through art, I can fully express myself use of colors, symbols, motives, and I have been influenced by my history.

I am a native of Venezuela, and have brought to the USA an admittedly mixed genre of paintings…a product of my inspiration, my traditional background, the new culture in which I live, and studies at the Art School Of The Louvre in Paris and the Cultural House of Maracay in Venezuela…among other things. My works have been exhibited in France, Spain, Monaco, Canada, the United States, and Venezuela. It has been my experience that they have an appeal to buyers looking for unusual, but not necessarily overly avant-garde visual themes. A frequent compliment I receive from buyers of my paintings is that they find them challenging and that they enjoy living with them. Dr. Hidelgar Rondon, Venezuela Supreme Court Justice says “The quality of her pictures surpasses not only the frontiers of her homeland, but also goes beyond to other people in Europe and America. Her talents remain in time and space.”
